Artists by Artists

...just about to head over to the reception for the Artists by Artists show, and realized wow! it's been a while since I've posted here. I posted this new painting in different places, but not here... hmmm... The AxA show features local artists - portraits of local artists by local artists... The Bob/Tree painting is my portrait of Bob Nanninga for this AxA show.
I'll add more to this post later but wanted to get this up here too...I have a ton of details of this painting - there are for sure over 50 faces in this painting, so I took some detail shots of it to see them up close in case you're not able to see it in person... so.. more here soon, but for now, I'm off to the show!

The reception is today, Dec. 13, 1-4pm.
at the Encinitas Library Community Room
540 Cornish Dr., Encinitas, CA 92024
the show is up til mid-January.

Wow Vanessa, this piece is mesmerizing. I can't believe no one has commented on it yet. This one just jumped out at me. Was it a big compositional challenge with having so many faces in the image? How long did the thumbnailing process take you?

Hey Vanessa - I was talking to my friends who came to the Annual Portrait Society show LAST YEAR, and they remembered this piece even over a year later. Kudos! They were agog with all the identities, as well as the mood. I know it is late, but I thought you should know.

thanks Pieter. I should probably post the reply I sent you on FB here too... thanks for your questions and comments. and hi Paul! tell your friends thank you for remembering! I know this painting was the odd one of the group last year. And I was up for the challenge of it not quite being acknowledged as a "portrait". I accept the challenge, and challenge it back. :) Anyway, thanks again.
